Smile Squared partners with Smile Train to spread smiles, toothbrushes
‘It’s okay to share a toothbrush’ T-shirt benefits cleft charity
ST. LOUIS, May 11, 2015 — Smile Squared, a social enterprise, and Smile Train, the world’s largest cleft charity, are partnering with one another to spread smiles to children in need around the world.
Proceeds from the sale of Smile Squared’s new T-shirt, inscribed with the words — “It’s okay to share a toothbrush.” — will exclusively benefit Smile Train. For every 200 T-shirts purchased, a child will receive the gift of a life-changing surgery and 100 children will receive a year’s supply of toothbrushes.
Smile Squared’s buy-one, give-one toothbrushes are sold online and at retailers nationwide, including select Walmart stores. The company donates toothbrushes to nonprofits such as Smile Train, which distribute them to children in need.
In most developing countries around the world, more than 90 percent of cavities go untreated, disrupting a child’s ability to eat, sleep, play and smile. Many children do not have access to a toothbrush, something considered a necessity for most Americans.
“We are all about creating healthy smiles on the faces of children all over the world,” said Eric Cope, founder and president of Smile Squared. “We are delighted to do whatever we can to help children born with clefts, smile.”
“Smile Squared knows the importance of healthy, beautiful smiles for kids. They also know that millions of children around the world do not receive the oral care they need,” said Masha Feiguinova, Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships at Smile Train. “We are thrilled to launch our Smile Train partnership with Smile Squared to bring cleft repair surgeries and related treatment, like follow-up oral care, to children around the world.”
The Smile Squared T-shirts are available for $19.95 through the company’s online store at https://smilesquared.com/shop/. The high-quality shirts are made from a washed poly-cotton-rayon blend and feature the words, “It’s okay to share a toothbrush.” on the front side. The shirts are available in vintage royal for men and vintage red for women.
Supporters are encouraged to spread the word through social media by including the hashtag, #shareatoothbrush in their posts.
